30 Chinese Sentences Used with Children When Talking About Safety and Discipline

Safety and discipline are two big topics adults cannot talk about enough to our children. How to say them in Chinese? Here are a list of sentences you can use when it is necessary.

SAFETY

1. 小心。
xiǎoxīn
Be careful. | Watch out.

2. 小心路滑。
xiǎoxīn lù huá
Be careful. It is slippery.

3. 小心楼梯。
xiǎoxīn lóutī
Watch out the stair steps.

4. 不要这样做。
búyào zhèyàng zuò
Don’t do this.

5. 不要碰它。
búyào pèng tā
Don’t touch it.

6. 这对你不好。
zhè duì nǐ bù hǎo
It’s bad for you!

7. 我已经告诉你好几遍了不要那样做。
wǒ yǐjīng gàosu nǐ hǎojǐ biàn liǎo bùyào nàyàng zuò
I have told you several times not to do that.

8. 不要碰电源插座。
búyào pèng diànyuán chāzuò
Don’t touch the electrical outlets.

9. 不要试图放任何东西在插座里。
búyào shìtú fàng rènhé dōngxi zài chāzuò lǐ
Don’t try to put anything in the outlet.

10. 不要碰炉子上的任何东西。
búyào pèng lúzǐ shàng de rènhé dōngxi
Don’t touch anything on the stove.

11. 炉子很烫，你会烫着自己。
lúzǐ hěn tàng, nǐ huì tàngzhe zìjǐ
The oven is very hot, you could burn yourself.

12. 用刀的时候要小心。
yòng dāo de shíhou yào xiǎoxīn
Be careful when you use the knife.

13. 那些工具太锋利了，只有大人才能用。
nàxiē gōngjù tài fēnglìle, zhǐyǒu dàrén cáinéng yòng
Those tools are too sharp, they’re only for grownups.

14. 不要用别人的杯子，那样会传染病菌。
búyào yòng biérén de bēizi, nàyàng huì chuánrǎn bìngjùn
Don’t use other people’s cups, you could catch germs that way.

15. 不要玩火, 危险。
búyào wán huǒ, wéixiǎn
Don’t play with fire, it’s dangerous.

16. 等绿灯亮了再过马路。
děng lǜdēng liàngle zàiguò mǎlù
Wait for the green light before you cross the street.

17. 过马路前一定要看两边。
guò mǎlù qián yīdìng yàokàn liǎngbiān
Always look both sides before crossing the street.

18. 不要坐的离电视太近。
búyào zuò de lí diànshì tài jìn
Don’t sit too close to the TV.

19. 不要紧，只是小伤口。
búyàojǐn, zhǐshì xiǎo shāngkǒu
It’s nothing. It’s just a little cut.

DISCIPLINE

20. 停下。
tíng xià
Stop doing that.

21. 不要说话了。
búyào shuōhuàle
No more talking.

22. 我们需要检讨一下。
wǒmen xūyào jiǎntǎo yīxià
We need to discuss this.

23. 好孩子不那样说话。
hǎo háizi bù nàyàng shuōhuà
Good girls/boys don’t say things like that.

24. 你是家庭的一员，你不能只想到自己。
nǐ shì jiātíng de yī yuán, nǐ bùnéng zhǐ xiǎngdào zìjǐ
You’re part of a family, and you can’t think only about yourself.

25. 我数到三你就停下来不要玩了。
wǒ shù dào sān nǐ jiù tíng xiàlái buyào wánle
I am going to count to three and you will stop playing.

26. 不要和我争论了。
búyào hé wǒ zhēnglùnle
Stop arguing with me.

27. 没有商量的余地，你必须现在上床。
méiyǒu shāngliáng de yúdì, nǐ bìxū xiànzài shàngchuáng
No more discussion, you’re going to bed now.

28. 不要对我提高嗓门！
búyào duì wǒ tígāo sǎngmén
Don’t raise your voice at me!

29. 那样说话不礼貌。
nàyàng shuōhuà bù lǐmào
That’s a rude way to speak.
