Too few means that you don't have choices; too many, on the other side, may suggest that you cannot always find the right files at the right time, especially when you need to put together a lesson at the last minute. 

You don't have the support you need. As a teacher, you want to have some peer teachers with whom you can share experiences, exchange ideas, or learn about the best practice from each other. Such a group unfortunately is not always accessible.

Hi, this is Sophia.

If we haven't met before, I am Sophia Xiong - a ˜ 20-year teaching veteran and the owner of Chinese4kids.net. As a teacher, I've taught students ranging from early years to university on different subjects: EAL, ICT, and Mandarin. My experiences have given me deep understanding and valuable knowledge regarding what a student needs to learn an additional language and what a teacher wants. My IT and Design background further equips me with the skills to create teaching and learning materials.

 I did not start creating Chinese teaching and learning materials right from the beginning. Actually when I started teaching Chinese, I spent countless time searching for the right learning materials, but could not find the right ones for my own children and my students. 


 The truth is: There are a lot of materials in the market, actually maybe way too much, but few of them are made for children learning Chinese as an additional language. That's why I started to create my own materials to cater to my kids' needs. Slowly other teachers and parents have seen the value and used them in their own teaching. 


 Being a teacher, I know exactly what a teacher wants and I would like to create a one-stop place that teachers / parents can access, search, plug and play in their own Chinese teaching... . 


 ..One that would allow them to focus on the essentials, eliminate the fluff, and target the knowledge and skills our kiddos need to become confident and thriving young Chinese students.

#1 Lesson Plans
Lesson plans are the determining factor for the success of Chinese lessons. Well-planned lessons stimulate students' curiosity and eagerness to learn.
  • The lesson plans go in order. Each lesson plan can be used for 1-4 lessons depending on how the class is structured. 


  • All lesson plans include Details (Time/Objectives/structure/target vocabulary), Lesson Materials (Flashcards, Printable, etc), Supplies, Notes, Lesson Structures including class activities, classwork and homework. 


  • For each lesson plan, all the supplementary teaching materials mentioned in the plan are also listed together with the lesson plan itself, examples include       

  - Vocabulary poster        

  - Vocabulary flashcards        

  - Worksheets Text sheets Or craft sheets   - Reading materials if applicable


  •  New lesson plans together with accompanying materials are added regularly.

While lesson plans set the foundation for the lessons, worksheets enforce the learning points and help students learn better via practice.
  • Tailor made worksheets especially created for kids learning Mandarin Chinese as an additional language.

  • If a song is planned, then the lyrics text sheet is available in addition to the song video (if applicable). If a craft activity is planned, then the craft sheet is provided. If a class reading is planned, then a class reading material is there… you got the point, everything needed for a lesson as listed in the lesson plan is included in the unit for the lesson. 
# 3 Teacher Aids
From classroom posters to study planners, there are useful tools for teachers to use. And this section serves to be the resource center for teachers.

  • Classroom resources such as display, cupboard labels, etc.
