It’s fantastic to see you continuing this colorful language journey! Yesterday we learned numbers, and today we’re diving into the vibrant world of Colors (颜色 – yánsè)! Knowing colors helps us describe everything around us, making conversations much more vivid.

Let’s learn 10 basic colors in Mandarin Chinese!

Today’s 10 Thematic Words: Colors

Colors are everywhere! Notice how many of these words end in 色 (sè), which means ‘color’. Listen carefully to the pronunciation and tones in today’s video lesson.

红色 (hóng sè) – Red
蓝色 (lán sè) – Blue
黄色 (huáng sè) – Yellow
绿色 (lǜ sè) – Green
黑色 (hēi sè) – Black
白色 (bái sè) – White
粉色 (fěn sè) – Pink (often 粉红色 fěnhóngsè is also used)
紫色 (zǐ sè) – Purple
橙色 (chéng sè) – Orange
棕色 (zōng sè) – Brown
