How the 3-part cards work

Every word comes as three cards:

• Picture card: the image only
• Word card: the Chinese characters only
• Control card: the image, Chinese characters, pinyin and English together

Children match each picture to its Chinese word, then turn to the control card to check their work. Parents and teachers who don’t read Chinese can use the control card to see the pinyin and English too, so no one needs to be an expert to guide the activity.

• Match and check: pair the picture and word cards, then self-check with the control card
• Memory game: turn cards face down and find the matching pairs
• Sort and group: separate vocabulary, animals and numbers
