A Thanksgiving Chinese lesson you can teach tonight
You want your Chinese class to feel like the season. But you do not have time to plan activities, find pictures and make worksheets.
This pack does all of that for you. It gives you a complete Thanksgiving Chinese lesson plan and every printable the lesson uses. Open the plan, print the pages, and teach.
What you can teach
The plan has two lessons. Each runs 45 minutes, and each stands on its own.
Lesson A: Thanksgiving Dinner
- Children learn the foods on the Thanksgiving table: 火鸡, 土豆泥, 玉米, 面包卷, 肉汁, 蔓越莓酱 and 南瓜派.
- They practice 这是什么? and 桌子上有…
- They draw their favorite dish and say 我最喜欢的感恩节食物是…
Lesson B: Thankful and Harvest
- Children learn words about gratitude and the harvest, such as 感恩, 丰收, 聚宝盆 and 聚会.
- They learn the sentence 我感谢… and say it to the class.
- They make a Thankful Turkey and share one or two feathers.
Not your usual routine
Seasonal lessons do not need your usual circle time, weather talk or goodbye song. These lessons open with a Mystery Basket game and close with a Feast Cheer or a Thank-You Circle. Children walk in to something new, and the class feels like a special event.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I need to teach both lessons? No. Each lesson works on its own. If you only have one session before Thanksgiving, Lesson B (the turkey craft) is a good choice. If your group loves food words, pick Lesson A.
What age is this for? The lessons are made for beginner learners in the early primary years. You can simplify them for younger children or add writing for older ones.
Do students need to read Chinese? No. Younger students can listen, repeat, point and draw. Reading and writing are optional.
Are the printables included? Yes. The vocabulary flashcards, tracing worksheets, My Favorite Thanksgiving Food worksheet, turkey craft sheet, symmetry drawing worksheet and coloring pages are all in the download.
Can I use this with a group of mixed ages? Yes. Each activity has simple and extended versions, so younger and older students can work together.
Do I need to know Chinese to teach it? Some Chinese helps, but you do not need to be fluent. The plan gives you the exact phrases to say, and the flashcards show the words. Parents who speak little Chinese can use it too.
Is this the same as the Thanksgiving Theme Chinese Learning Pack? No. This pack is a complete lesson plan with a selection of materials in teaching order. The learning pack is a larger set of activity pages.
Can I print it more than once? You can print as many copies as you need for your own use or your one classroom. Please do not share or distribute the files.
Is the history of Thanksgiving explained? Only briefly. The lessons focus on language, family meals and saying thank you. The plan suggests keeping the history short and letting children share what their own family does.
